difficult maths, would not recommend

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2021

I enjoyed this unit much more than I expected. Fyi I have quite a good background in maths so if it's not your strength, you will need to work really hard to do well in this unit. but you have to be serious and study to pass

Really interesting and my lecturer & tutor were great at explaining the concepts. Keep up with the tutorial questions and you will be fine!

Paul was one of the best lecturers I’ve had at mq uni. Econ131 is an extremely easy unit that teaches basic algebra and calculus. I guess if you don’t know algebra or calculus then this unit would require a bit of work but Paul teaches this unit in a very friendly introductory way. The math concepts learnt are useful for 2nd and 3rd year micro. Not really of much use for macro, econometrics or finance. But the math concepts are still used in econ/finance subjects so it is still very useful if you didn’t take 2 unit math in high school and are planning to take econ/finance units.
