my major is accounting so this might be a little bias but i absolutely love accounting especially financial accounting and this was pretty easy and laid back although the lecturer spent more time laughing than teaching , the tutor was really good in making up for it. the concepts taught were an extension of accg100 so it wasn't that hard to keep up 100% recommend

Honestly, why does Macquarie get lecturers who students do not understand? Lecturer was so hard to understand, went off on tangents irrelevant to the topic. Made simple things complicated. MYOB Assignment was rubbish. Only thing good was the participation marks and the individual assignment. The questions in the in class test were decent.

Build up knowledge from ACC 1. I like it because the assignment is quite practical. You get to use MYOB which is often used in SME.

This unit aims to build on the principles and concepts of financial accounting established in ACCG100. Topics include an examination of the regulatory framework of financial accounting including the definition, recognition and measurement of assets, liabilities, income and expenses. Aspects of investor decision making are covered, including financial statement analysis. In addition, the unit introduces students to aspects of management accounting including cost-volume-profit analysis, job costing and concepts relating to budgeting. The unit develops graduate capabilities centred on effective oral and written communication skills, and analytical and critical thinking skills.

Fantastic subject. I had Jessica Chen (who is the unit convenor for S1, 2017) as my tutor. I did not attend any lectures and was able to rely on attending tutorials, reading lecture slides and doing homework. Keep up to date, do the exercises and do all the assignments (including the MYOB one!) and you will do well. If you are struggling, ask for help and rectify any issues you may have quickly - as you will find that they may compound and cause you more grief. I received a 92 (HD) in the subject and highly commend the structure and relevance of the course material.

Very straight forward and structured. Be sure to nail it as it will all come up again and again.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2013

Uses the same textbook as 100, which is good. I got a much better mark in this unit too, aided by the focus on analysis rather than journal entries for days.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2015

Solve past exam papers for the finals. Questions are very similar.
