A lot of reforms were carried out this year due to the feedback from students who did it in 2025. The second assignment changed drastically.y. A drop-in session was introduced this semester where students were encouraged to ask questions to a TA or topic coordinator. The marking seems to be more generous than the previous year, as many of my friends got HDs. Nonetheless, it is still a topic with a huge burden, as you would expect to put a lot of time into writing your literature review. What makes it worse is that this is a core topic, so there is no way you can escape it. My suggestion is simple: take this course as early as you can during your medical science degree so that its grades will not count into the final year. This is very beneficial if you are aiming for medical school: less pressure and less anxiety.

In contradiction to the review posted for this subject in 2014, I found that there were little to no lectures. This subject offers mostly in-person workshops instead. However, it is difficult to gain long-term academic benefit from them, as they as they are unfortunately not recorded most, if not, all of the time. On a more positive side note, this topic does offer some assessments which are NGPs (worth around 15% of the overall grade), which serves to somewhat reduce the overall difficulty level of achieving a HD.
