Reviews

This class is great for those straight out high school and have not had the experience of university level research and writing scientific lab reports. Although I had already done this type of work in my first degree, it was a good refresher and helped to know my skills and knowledge had not fallen.

Terrible lecturer, no guidance, outdated subject outline. Be prepared to do it on your own.

Very easy first subject. Assessments were easy but moderately time-consuming. Not the most exciting content, but I didn't ever feel lost in what I had to do. With a little effort, good results will come easy.

As a 1st year 1st semester subject this isn't a good representation of CSU at all. Very disorganised & lecturers don't seem enthusiastic at all. Don't be put off by this subject as it does get better - honestly! Easy though to get good marks in the assignment once you've learnt how to use the CSU Library to it's full extent. Gives some of us without lab experience a crash course a couple of days before Chemistry 1A so we don't look like complete fools. Change the lecturers & update the materials and it would be a wonderful intro to CSU.

Don't be too disheartened if you don't understand what you're supposed to be doing, I don't even think the subject coordinators do. Very lazy delivery, course materials not updated annually, and the assignments were poorly made. Best get it out of the way and be done with it.

Terrible support from lecturers and confusing as a first subject. However, very easy to get through and to do well in, with some patience and doing some work for yourself. Teaches basics required for science related degrees, so essential to know if you don't already. Not really as enjoyable as I've found others, so just get through it and look forward to the other more enjoyable subjects you are/will be doing :)

A relatively easy subject to ease into university with. Teachers can be a bit wishy washy and did things that they told you not to - spelling was atrocious too. Good subject to start with, they get harder and, yes, you do have to find out a lot yourself but welcome to uni!
