Reviews

Quite a content heavy course but can be passes easy if you put the effort in. Some prior chemistry knowledge would be very helpful.

I was very happy that the first module was not covered in the final exam as I found this module the hardest of all of them. The content was very interesting, but there was a lot to learn overall.

I love the CROMs. It's quite easy to fall behind on the lectures but the weekly CROMs make sure you catch up by the end of each week (because it quizzes you on the content of the week's lectures so you're forced to catch up!)

This course has very interesting content, that can be a little challenging if you don't stay ontop of it. It helps to have a little (very little) bit of knowledge of basic thermodynamics, but if you don't the course is totally manageable. The weekly CROMs helped you stay ontop of what was being learned that week, and gave you a decent opportunity to work on equations and find out where you went wrong with the handy feedback system. Overall a good subject with great lecturers.

I really found that this course enabled me to finally understand everything I learnt in high school chemistry! While the first module was perhaps a bit challenging and more like physics, it was a good foundation to the rest of the course (and CHEM1200). The PASS classes were really good too and helped me a lot to understand the concepts!

A very easy and intuitive course. It's just a little too big so you'll probably need some friends or attend PASS class to get your questions answered.

Fantastic Basics of Chemistry. 100% go for it!

I personally dislike chemistry and found the first module boring but the second and third modules were great. The lecturers are really good and enthusiastic. The final exam was harder than the midsem and harder than the past exams but was still pretty good if you had done the past exams and PASS sheets. Would recommend as it provides basic chemistry needed for many courses and is still interesting even if you're not a huge fan of chemistry.

The final exam was a stitch up the content taught is a big step up from high school, however MOST of the lecturers are wonderful so you'll be fine.

Really good subject though not too easy; but lecture resources were helpful, the PASS classes were good to get extra help; CROM helped me to stay up-to-date; exams were reasonably hard, not too easy; enjoyed the subject though
