Really enjoyable intro to biology! Having never done biol in high school I was quite nervous, but the lecturers break content down really well and pracs are always loads of fun!

This course provides great background knowledge for later biology courses. The lecturers are passionate and the course is structured well.

I enjoyed this course, very organised. A lot of content and third module is slightly less effective but other than that very good course

It was a good introductory biology course, allowing first years to ease into their university studies. There was a lot to learn, both in terms of theory as well as laboratory skills, but it also very manageable and definitely recommended for students who are doing any biology related program or are interested in biology.

A really good fundamental biology course, it teaches all the basics that are used in further studies in biology. I found the content very interesting, and the way it was delivered was also very effective. There is however a lot of content and a lot to remember for exams and mini tests.

This is a really fundamental course for all Biology majors I feel. The number of times I was sitting in a 2nd or 3rd year lecture and heard the words "you would have done this in BIOL1020" was a lot, and not in the ironic no we didn't way. We absolutely did learn everything needed in future years in BIOL1020, so pay attention and make sure you get the text book.

The content is interesting and stimulating, as long as you keep up to date. The course is content heavy, with a lot expected of students, but is necessary. Ensure you purchase/have access to a copy of the textbook, as the weekly readings are super important!

Overall, this course was interesting. I enjoyed learning about the different concepts in lectures but didn't think the practicals were up to scratch. Some of the mini test questions were not thought of well when they were written, which created confusion for the students in the actual mini tests. Also, some of the practicals were really short and didn't really help overall with the course content. The final exam, however, was very easy!

Fantastic Class, Learn the Basics to Biology, Genes, Cells & Evolution! 100% go for it!

I did not find the content of this subject (primarily cell biology) interesting at all but feel that it is important to know for other biology subjects. The lecturers were great and enthusiastic and the practicals were laid back. Tutorials were useful but a bit rushed (not that much time for questions etc.). Make sure you put some effort into the 4 mini tests as they will form around 40% of your grade even though they don't feel like a lot individually. Final exam is a lot of content and is very difficult to study for at the last moment so commence study a lot earlier. Definitely attempt as many past exam questions as you can as some questions repeat exactly or almost exactly.
