Reviews
Worked in very well with Human Physiology. The lecturers were all very competent and the content was always interesting. There is a lot of memorising of drugs and mechanisms, but if you get organised then it won't be so much of a problem.

Quite well coordinated, related to physiology in many ways helps if you are taking it together or like you took it the semester before. Interesting to know the mechanism of drugs but does have a lot of memorising (eg. drug names, mechanism, side effects, etc)

I really enjoyed physiology so learning about how we can manipulate the physiology to treat certain conditions really fascinated me. The questions they asked were fair. I didn't really enjoy the lab work very much but this was a small part of the subject.

This was both a challenging yet enjoyable subject, especially if you have an interest in the mechanisms behind a variety of drugs, just be prepared for some degree of rote learning. Prior, or concurrent knowledge of PHYS20008 (Human Physiology) is beneficial, as this will help you understand the body processes drugs interact with.

Found this subject really interesting, especially learning the mechanisms of actions of each drug. There are a lot of drugs to remember, but that's expected for a pharmacology subject. If you stay on top of the subject, it'll be less stressful to prepare for the mid-semester test and exam.

Loved this subject and will keep doing pharmacology units. However, I think that is because I find the topic super interesting, unlike my friend who struggled with the content because he found it boring. Be prepared to commit yourself to a lot of memorisation for this subject, we counted 112 drug names.

This subject does cover a lot of drug names and is somewhat content heavy; however it is very interesting and particularly useful for the therapeutics section if you are doing HSF (BIOM20002). Most of the lecturers are engaging and the practicals are fairly straightforward.

Not as much memorising as I thought there would be, but still a fair bit. If you fall behind too much I would imagine trying to catch-up would be quite overwhelming considering the subject focuses more on remembering specifics than general ideas. At first I thought they didn't give enough practice questions to aid throughout the semester, but after taking the exam I came to realise that what they do give is more than sufficient as the assessment questions are pretty straightforward.

subject is poorly organise

Interesting content. There is a lot of overlap with Human Physiology, especially at the beginning of the course (the concepts are better taught in Physiology). The pracs are easy and most of the assessment is fair. Involves quite a bit of memorising.
