Reviews

Not the most enjoyable and stimulating subject, but at the same time, probably the easiest to achieve a H1 in with the least amount of effort. If you keep up with the lectures, do the weekly quizzes and assignments legitimately by yourself so that you know how to do them and understand the few fundamental concepts that you need for this subject, there's really no reason stopping anyone from getting a H1 - regardless if you've seen distributions like Normal and Poisson before. Buying the book is not necessary. Don't wag the labs because the lab test is worth 10% and it's so much easier to practice R (the program you'll use) when you have your tutor around to ask. Also if you have Sourav Das as a tutor you are one blessed human being because he is the biggest lad and will make the most difficult concepts easy.

I found this to be extremely boring and tedious. The lecturer was ok but the computer part did not feel necessary.

This subject is relatively straightforward if you keep up with the lecture content. The textbook Fundamentals of Biostatistics is not needed as there are course notes written by the lecturers themselves, which are put on the LMS. There are revision questions at the end of each chapter and are great indicators of questions and the desired responses on the exam.

I enjoyed EDDA a lot. It's pretty much basic statistics. Practicing questions using the booklet at the end of the textbook (pink textbook) will help you score in the final exam. The assignments are pretty much exam questions so it might help if you look through the past years before attempting the assignments.
