Reviews

Lecturer doesn’t teach you anything. doesn’t teach you the required intuition, as always i have to teach myself everything. 0/5. Worst subject I’ve done in this whole course. Borderline makes me want to kmz. Worst worst worst lecturerer in the world, he doesn’t make sense n he sucks afffffff

Lecture slides were very difficult to follow and skipped out a lot of relevant explanations and intuition behind it, could not follow at all! There were also no tutor consults and the Ed discussion board was barely open for a couple of weeks across the whole semester! and the weeks the discussion board was open, they close promptly at 5pm making it difficult for students with other commitments (like work) to get a chance to ask questions in the few weeks the discussion board even is open Assignments required complicated algebraic manipulation and a lot of out-of-the box thinking, that does not match with the lecture slides or content taught and was really harshly marked, with unfair penalising. Tutorials are pointless as they are incredibly rushed and tutor would always leave 20 minutes early in an already short 1 hour tutorial. Overall very difficult subject and to top it off, and an unhelpful staff.

easy enough, assessments were straightforward

Very mathematical, and particularly difficult content covered in the assignments. But if you keep up and grind for the exam, a very good score is possible in this subject.

Amazing lecturer, love the example problems at the end of each lecture!! Tutorials are too rushed and would love to have the pink sheet solutions to review at home.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2019

A hard subject although quite rewarding and well-taught overall making it a fun experience. Economics slides are amazingly useful as always.

Mei was an amazing lecturer! This subject is more focused on the math behind the models and theories. Overall, a well-taught and organized subject. Assignments were not too hard, but be prepared to face some tricky questions in the exam. Definitely recommend if you want to expand your knowledge on macroeconomics.

Mei is excellent! I cannot expect a better lecturer than her. It expands the knowledge from Intro Macro. The tutorials are useful for exam preparation.

Interesting and well taught subject, although the tutorials were generally rushed. You'll need a strong economic intuition and the ability to think outside the box and generalize models to master this subject. Strong algebra skills will put you in good stead to get a decent score too. To study for the exam, review the lecture slides, tutorial problems, and recent exams

The blue and pink sheets are a must to do and review for exams. Assignment 2 was significantly harder than assignment 1. Overall, theory wise it was fine and you'll do great if you have a strong math background.
