Reviews

Definitely the most interesting Chem subject so far. But be prepared to do a lot of revision in your own time as it is very content heavy and the lecturers move through it very fast. Difficulty-wise similar to CHEM20020, but with significantly more content built onto previous understanding.

Core subject for chemistry majors, standard set up of three blocks of four-week topics. The stuff on statistical mechanics (like Boltzmann distributions, partition functions, entropy) was very useful for later subjects and research in physical chemistry. The quantum section was cool too, and included an expansion to the ideal gas law so that it can apply to real gases. (P.S. I took this subject in semester 1, 2014, but that doesn't appear in the drop-down menu, so I'll select semester 1, 2017, which is the oldest option available.)
