Reviews

Most UNE units are good. This wasn't one of them. A good portion of the material hasn't been updated for a long time (you know it when every article in the prescribed reading was written in 2010 or 2011). Lectures are just voice recorded over power point slides. The material is uneven and often poor quality compared to other UNE units, so you end up digging most of the information on your own. The amount of the prescribed (but not particularly helpful) reading is anxiety producing. You'll be better off signing up for one of the online courses if you really wanted to learn genomic analysis. Three stars is generous; only because I want them to improve and succeed. If anyone at UNE reads this please do an ML course at Coursera (taught by Andrew Ng), this was one of the best learning experienced I've had.
