Unit was easy, especially for those who took Advanced Math in high school. The weekly quizzes were a breeze, and I enjoyed that you could retake them and challenge yourself with the harder quizzes. I didn't participate in many lectures when I realised I didn't need them. SGTAs and tutorials were alright, though it could've been completed online easily. Easy HD.

I found the unit a little bit boring and felt that it could have been harder. Though as someone who was not very confident in maths in high school I did not struggle to achieve an HD with only a little struggle. I did, however, have friends who needed assistance in getting some concepts to "click".

extremely easy unit, and impossible not to get a HD. It's a little boring but external subject is only lecture and quizzes, barely takes up time from your week, and can focus on other subjects.

Boring unit but very easy to do well in as long as you do the practice tests which are identical to the real ones. Knowing how to correctly do the lecture quiz each week should give you enough knowledge to get a HD.

Easy subject to get a HD in. The quizzes and the assessments are quite straightforward and VERY similar to the practice tests you find on iLEARN.

This subject teaches some basic statistics principles. However, full marks for the subject can be achieved with relatively little difficulty, as you have unlimited access to practice attempts for each of the five qualifying quizzes. These practice attempts are identical to the qualifying quizzes, and the formula can be memorised and copied to gain full marks in the quizzes. Good score-boosting subject. If taken online/in external mode, attendance for practicals and tutorials is not required (as they are very basic, I cannot strongly recommend them).

This introductory statistics unit is very straight forward, it is identical to the STAT1250 course (business statistics) just with a science focus (rather than business). The course is usually run very well, as many students have to do this, my recommendation for doing this unit is to keep up to date with the lectures / tutorials and practicals. Unlike other units, each week builds on the previous weeks work, (week 4 you need to know week 3 work), so if you fall behind it can be a challenge to get back up to date. Do all the tutorial problems and practical exercises, even though they may seem mundane or boring, because even if they aren't tested a lot of the skills will be used in 2nd year subjects. The course isn't exceptionally hard, just keep up to date and ask questions if you need. [completed S1-2016]
