This subject will provide students with the ability to evaluate and interpret information gathered from measures and approaches used in psychological assessment. The subject will be comprised of three themes covering measurement theory, individual differences, and psychological assessment in applied contexts. Lectures in measurement theory will cover classical and modern psychometric approaches to the construction, implementation, and evaluation of psychological measures. Lectures in individual differences will extend on the coverage of cognitive ability, personality, and emotion offered in PSY1EFP and PSY1CFP, with a focus on assessment. Lectures in applied psychological assessment will cover the issues associated with the appraisal of behaviours, thoughts, interests and emotions across clinical, educational, organisational, and forensic contexts. This subject is a capstone subject in a psychology major.
