Reviews

This is the only course I genuinely believed is worth my international tuition fees. MATH1115 rigorously builds calculus from real number axioms and introduces students to important concepts in analysis. Linear algebra is also introduced intuitively to be rigorously constructed later on. Overall, MATH1115 is an excellent course that prepares students with a passion in mathematics for more advanced concepts like analysis and abstract algebra.

The course provides students with a basic knowledge of Analysis (or calculus as it was so named) and linear algebra. Students will come across the sequences, construction of real numbers, limits, continuous functions and matrix properties all packed with rigorous mathematical language (which may be why some students find the course content difficulty as they are not used to idea expressed in such a formal way). The ideas and concepts contained in this introductory course is very important for anyone who wish to pursue mathematics in the future or even to study the second and third year analysis course.

An excellent introduction to Analysis and Linear Algebra, and how to structure mathematics proofs. Be forewarned, this is a difficult course and they move through the content very quickly, and the weekly assignments are a large time sink.
