I can't stand this subject tbh. At the beginning of the semester, I thought I'd love it and it'd be my fav subject since I loved Year 12 Bio, but nah I was wrong. 1) They make things unnecessarily hard for us - eg: for pracs, they literally offer us no form of support. You'd always have to rush and try to make the best out of everything, and they're always partial (perhaps due to being racist). My white friend always gets told the answers by this one prac instructor and is always favoured by her despite them not being allowed to tell us any of the answers. Yet, when I ask ONE doubt, they'd give me vague advises that completely dodge my question. I'm not quite mad about that since I understand they can only hint towards the answer, but never give them to us. But what I'm mad about is the fact that they are so partial. I also always get much harsher feedback on my diagrams than my friends', depsite it being neat. 2) They are so nit-picky about every single detail/thing you do in the prac. One small thick line (even the smallest) instead of a thin, continous line is enough for them to cut marks...especially if you aren't white. 3) You must expect for one of the lab supervisors to be lazy af and completely unhelpful, unless if you're white ofc like I mentioned. 4) Coming from someone who studies really hard and usually does well, this subject is the most annoying since it's really content heavy, but very vague at the same time - and I really don't know how to elaborate on that/describe this feeling. You can't easily figure out where to start learning from/what exactly you should even be learning and exactly to prepare for this subjects' exam. What makes it worse is that the practice tests that they provide you aren't even similar to your real exams. Overall, I realised that although I thought bio would be my best subject and Intro chem my worst (since I didn't do chem in highschool and always hated that subject), it was in fact the complete opposite. Chem is actually very easy marks. Even if you don't understand anything, you still get marks very easily - just attend the tuts and lectures, do the workshop/lab quizes (as many times as you prefer) to get full marks. Only your highest mark in the quiz contributes to your marks. Pracs are also quite easy, even if you don't understand them at all, as long as you follow the procedure, you end up getting full marks. So yeah, do any other subject except bio unless you're ready for the trouble. I will warn you again, it's not as good as it seems...and yep, this is coming from a Year 12 bio topper.

this is one of the worst units to ever do. This is coming from a student who studies nearly every day. The content doesnt have anything to do with medical science. it is pure animals and history and boring stuff. Very hard to study for as content is too much and doesn't make sense. Definitely stay away from this unit if you can

As a Medical Science student interested in human health, I did not enjoy this unit at all. The lectures were dry and the content was heavy. I have not studied this in high school which made the unit challenging. But with decent effort I scored 93%. The most helpful thing was doing many questions before the exam.

enjoyable unit with comfortable content, assessments are straightforward although lecturers are not as forthcoming to help explain concepts

Simple subject on evolution of plants and animals, origins of species, natural selection, and genes within populations. Very similar to high school Biology but goes into more depth.

Quite an interesting subject. The lectures are interactive and informative if you are into biology. The practicals are easy and the assessment is not so hard. Guaranteed distinction and with decent effort a HD.

All Memory, use the Macgraw Hill to study <-- very useful!
