I most definitely agree with the others. Everyday life was an extremely boring unit. I do not mean boring as in 'I am lazy to learn and be involved'. I just don't find this unit necessary, unless students really want to learn about, well 'everyday life', which many information came across as 'common sense' to me. We must do new readings (1-2) before each class and discuss them as a group. This is not a bad idea as it gets the class to open up, however I find it extremely pointless that we spend one hour of class discussing about ‘Christmas gift exchange’ and having to do our assessment on it. This is a level 1 unit, and I find it ridiculous that our tutor marks very strictly on us. Not only is the grading harsh, but it’s as if we are expected to be on third year level of writing as my grammar was described to be in the category of ‘fail’. The assessments were quite easy, but the tutor expects too much from it, as if this unit is in comparison to psychology, science or health etc. I understand that this is an everyday life unit, and of course we have to learn something in relation to this. Well I just happened to land on a bad unit (I did not fail). If many of you wish to enrol in this unit, then most definitely go for it. Everyone has different opinions and for me, this unit just wasn’t for me. I found it incredibly easy but at the same time, a waste of time.

Didn't find it very helpful, my tutor chose to focus on minor issues rather than the major concepts. The lectures were also fairly basic and could be understood from the lecture slides.

Quite a boring unit. Very easy concepts and extremely easy assessments - one essay and an online take home exam.

Very interesting unit with numerous controversial topics...personally talking, if you attend the lectures and your tutorials you wont have any kind of problem...as you get notes in the lectures and advices in the tutorials that will help you with the final exam:)

Alot of people do not enjoy this sociology subject, however I found it quite enjoyable. Especially because the subjects you learn about provoke many discussions (most heated) in class, the one down side is the lectures are extremely boring and aren't needed to pass the unit
