So difficult because of the structure, assessments and challenging content. Even if you have done maths specialist, methods and physics in high school it was confusing new content. The reports were so messy, especially since my experience was online. This is not recommended for people without any previous physics background. Not a very easy HD. However, the quizzes are easy and online.

Ralph is a great lecturer and teacher. As soon as the new lecturer came in my understanding of the content significantly decreased. He often does not seem to know what he is even talking about and takes a huge amount of time to explain core concepts. Sometimes you can hear him stutter and simply give up explaining altogether. Other than that, I feel as if the course moves far too fast for most people in the course. The majority of students wouldn't have done physics in HS and would be doing this unit for entry into medicine. In my opinion there should be more resources available for those who are unfamiliar with much of the content, myself included. This is also the only physics unit which takes apps as a prereq but a bit more mathematical knowledge is super helpful. Half the questions in the pracs were about rearranging equations. The catalytics sessions are decent but are based on content from the week they are held in, and most people would not have watched the lectures. So I just sat there clueless in most of them. The tests are fine and are fairly easy if you actually do the work, and even more so if you have already done physics. There aren't many practice questions at all apart from the textbook, which is $150!!! Keep in mind there is no exam but the tests are worth 70%!

Do not take this unit if you only did Maths applications ATAR, although this is the only prerequisite I found this unit to be very challenging and despite putting a lot of effort into it it did not give the results I needed. Conversely, my friends that did specialist maths and maths methods and even physics in year 11 found the unit to be really easy.

If you did well in year 11/12 physics and are looking for an easy HD unit with no exam then this unit is great - you won't have to learn much new content/put in a lot of effort and lab work is easy to complete (though could be better aligned to the current topic). Past this, would not recommend: Unit content was poorly organised, no lecturer for the whole mechanics lecture material (<1/3 of the unit). Lab work is by no means difficult and you should be able to leave early for most weeks. 3x23% tests were alright, would be useful to know you are allowed a double-sided page of notes before you get into the first test (not that you really need many notes). Marks were returned very promptly though compared to other units. If looking for a physics unit to help prepare for GAMSAT, would probably recommend finding a different unit

So poorly organised. Lectures did not coincide with assignments or textbook content. The whole semester you have to guess what content you need to revise. There is no schedule so it is incredibly easy to fall behind. Lab topics are all over the place, reviewing the first topics in lectures during the very last lab. Would NEVER recommend to anyone. DO NOT BOTHER

It's not very well organised at all, there is no set unit outline, and no unit outcomes besides in the UWA handbook. We don't even have a lecturer for a whole topic!!! If you did year 12 physics, don't waste your time doing this unit!

Easy HD-able unit as long as you put down minimum amount of work. Labs might look long but ain't hard. Lecturers and tutors are all friendly. Tests are not difficult. Overall, great unit, highly recommend.

Good for bridging physics, light content as well as helping GAMSAT preparation.
