This unit was very average. There's lots of group work here, and if you don't have a good group, you are screwed. The lectures were also really bad, since the lecturer did not explain anything well, and basically just reads off a textbook rather than does actual teaching. The lecture content wasn't too bad though, it's just the lecturer was. The exam was not good - it was hard to understand, but the difficulty was moderate - not hard. The tutorials were good, again depending on the group you have. My tutor decided to make us do presentations which contributed no marks, however, I did think it really helped drive in points, and filled in the many gaps of the lecturer. The workshops were also weirdly done, but again, the group you have will make or break your HD.

The first thing to do is get a good group as you will depend on your group a lot throughout the semester (roughly around 36% of the final mark). My group was horrible and I think it is because I picked the online tutorial as I was not in Perth at that time. Definitely HDable if you put in the effort. Lectures are useless in my opinion (lecturer couldn't teach, lecture slides full of nonsense), so save your time reading the textbook or starting on the group project early instead. If you get Georgie Carey as your tutor, she is absolutely great and definitely made my learning experience even better. She marks things leniently and is always there to help you out. Overall, pretty good experience with this unit. The downside would be that the exam questions were really weird (I can't really explain why), and the lecturer does not really teach the materials. Other than that, I like this unit and would definitely recommend it if you want a hands-on experience regarding advertising and promotion.

Took this as an elective as I really enjoyed level 1 mktg units. Didn't like this one as much as it focused a lot on group work. You'd be stuck in the deep end if you get bad group mates.

Great tutor for this unit and energetic lecturer! Some of the group assessment criteria was pretty outdated. Make sure you get a good group for the marketing campaign. Mid-sem exam pretty easy, as it is multi-choice, the end of sem exam is short answer questions. Common sense will get you through the unit and a basic understanding of marketing.
