I didn’t like this unit. Unreasonably high workload for a first year unit. I did this unit in my second year and all of the level 2 units I did were far easier. If you are studying full time and have a job, I don’t recommend this unit. If you did this unit as a first year and scored badly, don’t be discouraged, it gets much easier.

Terrible unit. It only is based on 3 assessable parts; quiz, essay and the final exam. The quiz only has a weighting of 15%, the essay 25% and the final exam 60%. Almost everything in the entire semester is examinable including all the extra reading done in tutorials, as well as almost every single lecture except for 1 or 2 topics. Basically if you mess up the final exam you've messed up the whole semester

Straightforward class, low study commitment, well-structured. Fairly interesting. We were fortunate enough to have an online exam due to COVID-19 so the final exam would be more difficult in a normal year.

Very interesting unit for sure. I wasn't a big fan of the way the lectures were run, a lot of the time it was a bit random and they'd just ramble. The essay was good and the topic was very interesting to research. The AGLC (referencing used for essay) is annoying but necessary. The exam was easy if you studied well. The tutes were pointless to attend in my opinion apart from ones close to the essay due date. Overall the unit wasn't the easiest, but I found it interesting and it is a reasonably good base law unit.

Exam content is reduced to only a few topics so its easy to study for

This unit is enriching and useful for further studies in Law at UWA. The topics are explored in depth and the unit is structured in a great way.

Most of the topics are very interesting. The rest are manageable, as most topics only last one lecture. The range of topics allows for a broad sense of the interaction between law and society. Exam is easy to study for, and questions are limited to 4 topics or so.
