I LOOOVE this unit. I got 67% for my Intro to Finance class but ended with 88% for this one. Easy HD if you pay attention to all the lectures. Moreover, Dr Chung is a great teacher, very generous on his markings, and very reachable. Def would recommend this unit amongst all the level 2 finance units!

This unit should be named "personal financial planning" as to not be confused with "corporate financial planning". Only relevant in certain field. Besides, the lecturer seem to try to give as little lecture time as possible, and many concepts are abstract without logical explanation--especially the calculations. I remember in previous accounting/finance units all equations are explained with some explanations which help understanding. It does not make sense that the lecture just give some equations and require us to use them. Moreover, no textbook and just 30-50 (sometimes more pages) pages to read every week does really make it difficult to learn the unit. Many tutorial questions cannot find answers in lecture slides, and even in the given reading material hard to find, and only after being given the tutorial solution did I know the answers, but still feel like the questions are really abstract and no way to get correct answer. This unit, overall, seems too abstract and full of concepts. Actually this will not boost your GPA; unit such as "introduction to finance" (although taken by everyone), the calculations are just basic math so in that kind of unit you can really get good grades. For this unit "Financial Planning", too conceptual to earn high marks. Please do not take any unit which not involve math as "easy"; the "math like" units are much easier to keep up with.

Easily the easiest finance unit in the finance major. It's predominantly theory based, and there's calculations here and there but they're all pretty simple. The tute questions are VERY close to the exam questions, know those and you should be fine, and also study the lecture slides.
