Very approachable with no prior Chemistry knowledge. Easy MCQ exam. Weekly quizzes which are also easy if you watch the lectures and do workshop questions. Labs are fun and lab techs are very helpful. Make sure you ask them any questions that you don’t know in the manual because the post lab quizzes are pretty much the same as those. Extremely well organised unit, excellent lecturers, easy HD, no stresses.

Perfect example of a chemistry bridging unit, very easy and a gradual learning curve that is not too harsh and easy to get into the rhythm of studying for. Exam is calm for anyone, essentially all MCQ so it's a breeze, but don't slack, practice questions and weekly quizzes are your bread and butter, they will help you immensely for getting prepared for the exam.

A well-organised unit with really lovely unit coordinators. It is easy to get behind though so make sure you stay on top of lectures and do the workshops they help a lot. I did find the exam quite difficult, but some of the questions are from the practice exam, so make sure you do them.

The unit was well planned and carried out for you to do well :) 90% of the information in the lecture recordings was contained in the exam. You will definitely do well here, just remember to regularly check lms and emails to complete quizzes, post labs, and pre labs before their deadline (go through and keep a diary on when things are due). The unit is structured in a way that your HD is not too difficult and not too hard to attain. The lecturers where wonderful and supportive if you needed any help :)

Decent pace as an introductory unit to chem. The labs are okay, but you need to either buy a $30 labcoat ($27 with guild discount) or borrow one for the six labs you'll be having. Also, everyone just copies answers from one person, which can get annoying and is obviously a blatant breach of conduct.

High contact hours for this unit but that makes sense since it covers Year 11 & 12 chemistry in one semester. Make sure you stay on top of your lectures as it is easy to fall behind (not because of the difficulty, just with multiple lectures/labs/tutorials throughout the week). Very clear and lecturers are very helpful. Cannot say much about the labs as they went online due to COVID-19.

This is a great unit for students with almost no Chem background, very well organied and have a truly responsible coordinator and very good lecturers. Fair amount of work and very well-structured course. The labs are related to the course content. Will definitely suggest it to people who want to learn the basics of chemistry.

It's a really great unit, except some lecturers might explain things in a vague way that might confuse people. Not hard to get HD.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

Some lecturers better than others, lots of content but if you have a basic understanding of Chemistry the unit is quite straightforward.

Really great and easier to understand than my high school chem experiences. Would recommend...
