labs are pretty fun but it’s high stress and high workload, and difficult to get high marks. You should only take this unit if you have to for your degree or if you’re really really interested in the topic

I found this unit quite enjoyable, at first I found the content boring and then it got really hard but the parts I didn't understand were reinforced often which made it easier. I do recommend going to the tutorials, even though they aren't overly helpful, they do ask questions and go back on the previous weeks content. They provided two practice exams which were almost identical to the actual exam but we weren't provided solutions for the practice exams. There were 9 quizzes based on the weekly content and then 6 pre-lab quizzes (which we had two shots at) which were quite easy. I really enjoyed the labs but it was really tough and stressful because it just felt like 3 hours was never enough time. I got the textbook but I didn't find it very useful, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really struggling to understand the content. Keep up with the content and you should be able to very easily reach a distinction in this unit.

Fun unit but easy to fall behind if start missing lectures. Do the past exams and you'll end up with an easy HD.

This unit is relatively hard. It is content heavy with 3 lectures a week. If you fall behind it is really difficult to catch up. It was a drain on other units making the semester stressful with difficult weekly tests, as well as the prelabs. It is worth putting effort into understanding the past exams because they are pretty much the same as the actual exam. However, getting help with parts you don't understand for any part of the unit is also hard.

Ridiculously content heavy and difficult. 3 lectures a week plus labs plus weekly quizzes and it was a massive drain on my other units. The exams are identical year to year so it pays off to get lots of help on the practice exams (they don’t provide answers) so you’re prepared. Do not take this unless you absolutely have to

Well organised but a lot of content. The bonus is that the exam is similar to past exams but there is a lot of content that you have to learn and memorise. Also, this unit throughout the semester requires you to put in a lot of effort with difficult quizzes and labs every second week. There are also 3 lectures are a week, so if you don't like going to lectures, they will pile up if you don't stay on top of it. Honestly, if you do not need this unit don't do it.

Quite a challenging unit but the exam is exactly the same every year so if you find the content difficult just learn to the exam and you should be fine. Labs a terrible - you're expected to know how to use and do everything, quite stressful but by the last few you get used to it. Online quizzes every week which is annoying but makes you stay on top of the work. Figure out which lectures to attend because some lecturers use the whiteboard and this usually is not recorded. Not like year 12 chemistry at all even though it sounds like it in the unit outline.

I found this unit extremely difficult but if you do study really hard for it you’ll find that although there is so much to learn, everything actually makes sense when you bring it all together and it’s not actually that bad. I would be wary if you think this unit is going to be just like year 12 chemistry, as it does sounds so in the unit outline but the content is in fact nothing alike. Labs are extremely stressful and purely independent but a very good learning experience and teaches you some valuable lab skills.

A great and interesting course for those who have a sincere passion for Chemistry. The course is well structured; the content is built weekly and they all interrelate, instead of treating each content as a separate entity. If studied correctly, the exam will go smoothly with no major hiccups. It doesn't get 5 stars as some lecturers (not the content) present their topics quite boringly.
