I took this unit as an elective and can honestly say it was pretty fun, spending majority of the semester working on our team project. In saying that, hope you get a good group. I was extremely happy with my group and I'm not insinuating that the other groups were bad - in fact, everyone seemed pretty great - but considering it weighs so much, it's pretty important that you are grouped with reliable people who contribute. To be honest, you don't really need to do the readings, because they become pretty irrelevant at some point. They are only really necessary for the reflections you need to do, but these are few and infrequent. Adam Keen was good, with him giving us a competitive group quiz in each workshop, rewarding the winner. He joined us at the Tav in our last workshop, and was interested in getting to talk to his students. One annoying part of this unit, however, was the workshop days and times being allocated to you (I got 9am Monday and don't live close to UWA). You will be required to do a research proposal, presentation, individual report, peer evaluation, *technically* do readings each week, and attend workshops. Although I try to avoid units with group work, this turned out to be a good experience for me. I wouldn't say it's an easy HD but to be fair, I did this in my first year and it's a second year unit. I would also not say it's really difficult either, though.

Great unit! Glenn Savage is a passionate educator - the layout of the course is organised and systematic. He teaches you the core theories step-by-step which you then use in your major essay. The theories are very interesting in learning about the policy process. Glenn is also flexible with datelines - if people are struggling, he will be kind. Please be nice and show up to his classes, they’re worth your time!

FIRST OF ALL, NEED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF UNIT!!! (not sure when they changed it) But when I took this unit on Sem 2 2020 it is now Society, Law and Politics. Glenn Savage was an incredible gem when it comes to teaching as he always talks with passion on every single topic. It was very helpful for students that he designed the unit so that we dive into topics deeply instead of brushing on one topic and move on to the next one. G. Savage was also very flexible with assessments that if he feels like everyone is struggling to finish off, he will move the due dates. Very glad to have taken this unit and I wish more professors are like him! Assessments can seem daunting at first as it is 30% essay 1 and 60% for big essay and 10% for participation. However, the topics themselves are discussed in a way that is scaffolding how we should write our essays (i.e., he would say things like: "so if i was to write this for my essay i would include x, and y and examples). Very memorable unit and I wish there are more stars i could rate
