Reviews
Literally the worst subject I have ever taken at UTS. It is taught horribly and everything is all over the place. Past exams are provided with NO WORKING - only answers. The lecturer gives no information about the final exam and only two practice papers. This subject is a GPA destroyer.

Uninformative lectures.

Past reviews all look great but apparently there has been a change in structure with the new coordinator. Subject is absolutely rubbish and lectures are useless. Lecturer also thinks it's a great idea to provide a whole past exam filled with maths with no answers provided! Tutorials are also trash. Students are picked on to read out their answers and half of them have no idea what they are doing. Great course !!!!! Have fun !!!

You will appreciate financial reporting after doing this course. Still a heavy focus on journal entries but very practical as you will need to refer to specific standards. Keep practicing. You will be fine.

It was quite an interesting subject, relating accounting to the regulations in the handbook. It was really enjoyable and interesting!

The lecturer is so enthusiastic and always welcome questions especially during the exam period, do not afraid to email her

Goes by the famous abbreviation "ASR", this subject is often compared with ABC - Accounting for Business Combinations as equally difficult. However, in my opinion it's easier, in the sense of more interesting and less numbers. It gives you quite an amount of interesting theoretical stuff, along with a bunch of regulations to note down. Restricted open book exams - you can only bring Financial Reporting Handbook. The book is highly recommended to buy, along with excessive tabs and highlighter too (trust me, its a huge book). About numbers and accounting transactions, it's important that you understand the nature of the transactions, and follow up on tutorial questions. Real exams questions are similar to sample ones, it's a MUST that you practice those. If you do turn up to all tutorials, and master sample questions, you will ace it ! Good luck !

Difficult subject. Includes both practical and theoretical aspects. Textbook is useless except for the legislation guide.

Thoroughly enjoyed learning ASR! Doing all those journal entries and referring to the handbook were particularly interesting
