A good subject for learning the basics of Japanese. The tutors in script and communication tutorials were really helpful. All the assessments are done online including final exam. The content ramps up a bit near the end but as long as you practice the pre-tutorial tasks and know the vocabulary you'll be set.

It's a good place to start your Japanese language learning process. Apply quickly so that you get the face to face class which gives much more personal feedback from the teacher (or sensei). You will struggle if you're blind to the subject (absolutely no prior experience), but I started only knowing Hiragana and managed to get a decent enough score to boost my WAM. Absolutely recommend this class if you really enjoy the Japanese culture

very fun class, teaches you basic japanese and has amiable tutors/lecturers. culture is slightly boring but most of the content is interesting nonetheless.

I highly recommend this subject for anyone who is keen to learn basic Japanese. There is a lot of content and you really have to commit to studying it each week, so if you're game then go for it. The lectures are interactive, and theres lots of talking in tutorials. In one semester you'll know both hiragana and katakana, as well as some kanji so the course is really intensive. All of my tutors were kind and helpful, and Seiko, the lecturer, is engaging and fun.
