Reviews

Concepts taught are very useful but overall the course is very dull. Easy enough to learn the exam from past finals without watching lectures.

Delivery of the lectures was quite dull, gets boring sometimes if you're not interested in statistics. Have to make sure that you fully understand the materials before you carry on.

Fantastic great bachelors stat course! Go for it!

STAT1201 is a great subject and now that I have completed it, I feel as though I have learnt many essential skills needed for science. My lecturer was Alan and he's great at teaching everything in a logical and he is super helpful if you need any help at all. The tutors are also very helpful and make sure you bring any questions about the project or content questions to the workshop.

The lecturers did a great job keeping my attention throughout this course. I found their textbook/workbook fantastic and wish other subjects used a similar method as it was really easy to keep up with what we were learning. I did however find the programming side of things quite difficult as the tutors already expect you to already understand how to use Python, and if you don't you fall behind. Recommend using the past exam papers for study as they are very helpful.

STAT1201 is a somewhat dull course and taught with a lot of mathematical and statistical jargon that is difficult to understand at first. However, if you keep up with the lectures and use the textbook consistently, it is not extremely challenging to do well in this subject. The assessment pieces are relatively easy to complete and understand (though the marking of ethics in the report is questionable). The mid semester and end of semester exams are not challenging if you're well prepared (you can even take in textbook/notes for them). You also get a free 12% from just participating and in the end, you really understand and can comprehend what the entire stat1201 journey has been talking about. A mediocrely taught subject but overall not excessively challenging and some areas were interesting.
