It was a great introduction to the Australian legal system and it's overall structure. The first few weeks of the course were slightly confusing as it was unlike any course I had completed prior and it was often difficult to figure out what was required for the final exam. Although, it's best not to overthink the course as it is much easier than it can often appear. Everything required to know is referred to in lectures and seminars, with no heavy readings outside of the classroom required to do well.

This course examines the structure of the Australian legal system and evaluates the core concepts underpinning the contextual realities of the system such as liberalism, the nature of rights, the plurality of law and the rule of law. The course also introduces students to legal thinking, case analysis, statutory interpretation and essential legal research skills. The course will therefore provide the platform for the future study of law.
