There's aspects that I loved and really disliked at the same time. The exam is worth 30%, which is really beneficial for people who crumble under exam pressure. Readings can be very long (it varies from 8-30+ pages per week), so it takes quite a bit of time, but it's relatively easy to score full marks in the section. The weekly polls also push us to stay up to date, however some questions are worded quite confusingly and there has been occasions where only a small proportion of people got a question right because of the poor wording. The News article assignment is what I find the most useless, as not many situations would require you to write an extended abstract of an abstract. Overall, I give it 4 stars mainly because of the structure and that it did help me become more organized as a student, but definitely not an interesting subject in my opinion

A truly different subject. There's more emphasis on ongoing assessment than a hugely weighted final exam. In fact, your readings weight 20% and your exam is 30%. Crazy right? I find the structure amazing as it keeps me engaged throughout the semester without stressing too much over the exam. Content-wise, it is a bit dry and I can see they are running out of topics to discuss. But this subject deserves a 5/5 for the structure alone.

Keep up to date with the lectures (you can get behind quickly!) but wade through the waffle for the important bits (they tend to be hidden deep inside a boring lecture!) Worth it if you're doing Zool30007
