This subject is an absolute WAM booster, and also a great introduction to Spanish. The subject itself got quite a lot of things to cover, but they are easy to manage, as they've provided you with a lot of resources and practices to make sure you can keep track on how you are doing. There're some assignments that require you to come up with something about the Spanish culture and art, but don't get scared, all they care is how you express yourself with the Spanish you learned. The tutors are generous in terms of marking your assignments, I don't think anyone in my class has scored lower than 80% in their assignments. It'll definitely be an advantage if you have studied some other romance languages like Portuguese or French, but even if you haven't, it is still fine, the tutors are patient and willing to give you feedbacks, don't be afraid to ask questions and get feedbacks. In general there's nothing to worry about for not being able to do well in this subject, as long as you go to the tutorials and stay tuned, hand in the assignments on time, it should be an easy H1 for you.

It is officially my favourite breadth subject I've done so far! The tutors were really great and helpful and always tried their best to make the classes fun and engaging. It's really nice that we sometimes get to engage with other Spanish classes as well. Did this as a winter subject and of course, being an intensive subject it was DEFINITELY intensive. But if you put in the effort to be consistent with your studies, a H1 is definitely not hard to obtain. The assignments are not hard to do as well (they don't mark particularly harshly since it is a Level 1 subject) but just remember to start earlier because again, it's intensive, so everything goes by really fast. All in all would recommend this subject if you are looking for a WAM booster :) ps. I knew NOTHING about the Spanish language so you are good to go if you feel intimidated by the total lack of knowledge

Fun subject! The tutors are nice, the classes are engaging and very chill, the assignments are straightforward and it is easy to do well in them. It moves fast but never enough to be overwhelming, rather it has a good pace. if you have studied a similar language before (such as French or Italian) a lot of the grammar concepts and vocabulary make sense and require very little effort to learn or memorise. It is a wam booster for sure. Definitely recommend!

Language subjects will generally be difficult but play your cards right and spread the workload out. I got an H2B but I missed the first two weeks of tutorials. Go to tutorials because a lot of content is featured in one. Diego was my tutor and he is cool. I recommend it as a subject, It was quite alright. I'd do it again.

Pretty good subject. Work load is manageable, just make sure you take notes in/after every session. Assignments are easy/straightforward, the exam is challenging though. If you play your cards right, easy H1, even if you do poorly in the exam. The tutor I had (Isidro) is lovely.

This subject was very well organised - while we moved quickly (compared to the pace at which language is taught in high school), the sequence in which we learnt grammar, vocab, etc. was logical, and built on top of each other. The assessment itself is extremely lenient (the exam itself was only worth something like 30%, and a chunk of your mark comes from reasonably easy online tasks completed at home), meaning it's not difficult to get a high mark if you put in the effort. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this subject. Easy H1 course. I took it as my breadth subject. It gave me some space from my science subjects. I took Spanish for 6 years before this however I memorized stuffed for the exams and forgot about it the next day. Taking this course from the beginning helped me a lot as I forgot some of the basic rules in Spanish. The group presentation was in English so do not stress about that. The written assignments are easy. SPANISHDICT will be your best friend throughout this subject. The exams where easy to me. I had friends that never took Spanish before and half of them got H1 the others got H2A. So, you should be fine.

Highly recommend taking this subject. Lots of fun and also very relaxed. The assessment is really easy apart from the exam (which is only worth 30% though!). I did spanish as my breadth and was definitely a nice change to my science subjects. can easily get an H1 in this subject and you actually get to learn a useful skill

Spanish 1 is good fun and the tutors are really nice! Definitely worth a try if you're interested in Spanish culture or are planning on travelling to Spain or other Spanish speaking countries. The assessments were often easy, except for the exam which was super challenging (make sure you study REALLY hard for it). Often the assignment outlines were a bit confusing, so just make sure you always clarify any questions that you have with your tutor. A bit of fun and a nice first year subject to help with the intergration of university style learning.

So I did this subject back in sem 1 2017. I tried some other breadths but i think im going back to Spanish 2 next sem. This subject was A M A Z I N G !! Shout out to Lara for being the coolest, informative and most chill teacher i've ever had in my life. Isidro is very cool and kind and helpful as well. I really learned some spanish in this subject, i enjoyed it and i got an easy H1. Assessments are pretty easy and teachers are not so strict about them. Be careful about the Aplia homework cause it can be a pain. Even if you have a "." wrong or a space you will get it wrong so really be careful. Overall highly recommend for an easy H1 which will actually teach you stuff.
