Can be overwhelming for students who haven't studied physics in VCE. Definitely not an easy subject to cram for so make sure you keep on top of things!

Awesome subject!

I really fell behind during semester. 36 lectures where you basically have no connection to the lecturer, as for the latter 6 weeks they jump in and out unknowingly - definitely a different vibe to BIOL or CHEM lecturers. Pracs are good but also depends on which demonstrator you get. If you get 'the' Italian lady you're guaranteed 19s or 20s for every lab. It helps doing Physiology subjects as this would mean the random stuff about action potentials and membranes is better understood. The exam in 2017 was a hit or miss for some; but I found it easier than expected.

Very poorly run. The lecturers attempt to teach the entirety of Year 12 Physics and a little more in just 36 lectures. The content is new to all being taught, yet the lecturers teach as if we have a Physics background and skip through the basics making it extremely difficult to follow and stay engaged. The lecturers were totally uninspiring and gave unnecessarily complicated explanations, I would recommend teaching yourself the course using the textbook and online resources, otherwise the lectures will confuse and frustrate you to the maximum. There is no easy way to get around this subject - the weekly assignments are mostly based on the textbook and it is unclear how much detail we need to know for the exam. Prepare for information overload, a lot of which is not relevant to Biophysics.

A soul-crushingly difficult subject which requires work from day 1. Falling behind in this subject is not advised in the slightest as the amount of catching up will only grow exponentially from there. The course-work is relatively easy to score highly in, but the exam is just as unforgiving as the course itself. The best way to do well in this subject is to stay on top of things from lecture 1 all the way to lecture 36 and make sure you understand anything and everything that the lecturer is talking about. The one good thing about this subject is that because it is so difficult, the scaling is a big help.

Very badly taught and a lot of pointless content. The LABY ideas centre tutors showed up about an hour late on the times I went there.

If you thought semester 1 was bad, it only get worse. Prepare yourself for the worse taught core subject of the year.

A very poorly run subject. The content is new to all students doing it but they teach it as if you already have a physics background. Assignments are related to the textbook not the lectures. The exam, however, is based on the lectures alone. The best advice I can really give for this subject is to read the textbook. Even though the exam will test you on the lectures, the textbook will explain the concepts covered in lectures better and in more depth, which is needed for assignments. In our case, it was also difficult to get help, as the lecturers did not have contact hours and I doubt that they will in the future. The Laby Ideas Centre isn't much help either as you will be competing with all other first year physics students to get help. If you are having trouble the best tips I can give is to talk to other students or ask your tutor questions in your tutorial.

Fully packed subject with lot of new concepts to learn if you haven't done much physics. Was very hard but the exam is scaled.
