This is not an easy subject, but very rewarding if you put a little bit of effort in. It's relatively lightweight in terms of material, don't expect a lot of hours memorizing, and there's literally zero coding skill required - the only coding is very light, beginner friendly and happens in tutorials. The primary focus is on having a good conceptual understanding, and how things might link together. If you have a good brain for critical thinking (ie. spotting cybersecurity risks or understanding the why behind things), you'll do well. The tutorials are really fun - lots of hands on cyber stuff, and I've only heard rave reviews for the tutors (shoutout Isaac, amazing tutor!). The lectures are also great, there is a huge mix of topics covered by 3 regular lecturers and 3-4 guest lecturers (good opportunity for networking, and very cool to hear from industry experts). The coordinators (Suelette and Shanaan) care a lot about the subject, and put in heaps of effort to make it valuable and up-to-date information. Because they cover so much information, the topics can seem a bit scattered and not connected. Shanaan's lecturing style is a bit unique, he will call on random people to answer questions. It's closer to the style of a high school class than a uni lecture - if that doesn't sound like you, I don't recommend taking this class since the lectures are vital. The essay (40%, 4000 words), is a group assignment (3-5 people - recommend smaller is better), so keep that in mind. Being proactive about finding a good group is very important. If you actively participate in the lectures and tutorials, and put a lot of work into your essay, it's not hard to do well in this subject.

(This subject is actually Information Security and Privacy) I really liked the lecturers. They are all really passionate and interesting. Great content, but felt a bit scattered. It was a bit too case study focused, and I would've preferred a few more technical lectures. The group work was a bit annoying, would've liked an individual report more. The guest lectures were superb! Extremely insightful and exciting! I've also found a lot of interesting things to look into and places to start. Overall, this subject has me excited about security and privacy (not for the state of it haha, just to learn about it)
