My favourite subject this semester, received a high H1. Study well for the MST as there is a lot of content covered, but it is all covered in the lecture slides (1x 1hr 30 min lecture per week). The presentation (pre-recorded and posted on a Canvas discussion board) follows each lecture topic and has a clear rubric and, given you follow it, you should score well. The essay is a little more ambiguous, given you have a list of 11 (?) open-ended questions to choose from, with no rubric or past exemplars. However, this subject was really thought-provoking and allowed me to explore numerous sociopolitical issues and look at the song contest from lenses I've never thought before. No prior knowledge of the song contest is needed to excel in this subject (I only briefly knew some songs from the 2025 ESC) and it helps to have a very small cohort (~50 people). Thanks James & the teaching team for making it a memorable semester!

Really fun and interesting subject if you enjoy watching eurovision. Pretty relaxed class, you can easily pass with minimal effort and the content is actually pretty entertaining and informative. Despite this, the tutor i had was a little rude and kinda treated the class as an afterthought to their other subjects. There was also definitely bias towards certain members of the class. I'd recommend this if you enjoy eurovision and/or are looking for a wam booster. Do study for the first quiz though - i did not and let's just say i did not get douze points

This subject is so much fun and you learn so much about European culture and history that you wouldn't in a normal history class. The tutors and lectures are good but some times have a bit of trouble with the technological side of things, but this doesn't really matter because the content is so engaging and the classes are super chill.

A fun subject, perfect for anybody who enjoys Eurovision. The only downside is the rather technologically inept lecturers. But the actual content is interesting, fun and pretty easy! Highly recommended if you enjoy Eurovision!
