Easy H1

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2021

Make sure you find a good group because you'll spend hours with them suffering over the project. The content is a bit strange and dry and I fell asleep in the computing parts, but it does help first-year students gather what is expected in an engineering report, which does appear very often in later subjects. Personally, I think tutors were really great (especially Huey)

Make sure to pick a good team at the start of the subject as the group assessment is worth more than half of your overall grade. Much of the content is explained quickly and will likely go over your head until later when you've had experience during the tutorials. The group project was designing a water system, which meant that much of the course content was focused on fluid mechanics.

Gets a bad rep but if you have a good group and stay on top of the content it'll be the easiest H1 you ever get.

EXTREMELY HARD IF YOU CAN SURVIVE IN YOUR GROUP AND PASS THE INDIVIDUAL WORK YOU'LL BE FINE.

This subject felt somewhat lacking in useful content, unless your interests lie in chemical engineering. This is not a pre-requisite for ESD2 despite subject names. The project will at least teach you how to work in a team when writing a technical report, but not too much else!

I thought this subject was useless as you don't learn very much. The project is also boring and time-consuming. Overall, I would not recommend doing it. The lecturers are fine though, it's just the content that's not very stimulating.

The chemical engineering part was informative but incredibly useless for those who wanted to do Mechanical or Electrical engineering in the future. The mechanics part was very fun and easy. The project was a bit boring and sometimes even useless.

The lecturers were great although the chemical engineering section was a bit hard to follow. The design project is a bit boring/uninspiring due to the lack of design freedom.
