Probably the best "true EE" subject in the uni; a true opportunity to apply everything you've learnt so far. The project is properly serious - designing a digital storage oscilloscope, including analog front end design, schematic design and PCB layout in Altium Designer, and soldering it yourself with a reflow oven. It's truly full stack - and you have freedom to make modifications to the design or firmware if you want. Getting the PCB layout right takes a very long time, so be prepared for some late nights. This is one of those subjects that kicks any "Melbourne Uni isn't practical" allegations to the kerb, and then some.

Really great subject! Even though you're kind of thrown in the deep end and I didn't get a super good mark in it as the practical component didn't quite go to plan, I learnt a lot about real-world electronics and PCB design, and it was a great, hands-on experience.
