Reviews
Okay crim subject. Very theory heavy so it was a struggle to see the big picture. Lectures felt quite long too. The thing that saved this subject for me were the tutorials, had the best tutor who was really good at consolidating the content and linking the theories to real life. Discussions in tutorials were also very engaging and interesting.

If you like the style of CRIM10001 where you learn a criminological theory and apply it to a case study, you may enjoy this subject. Unfortunately this was not the case for me. I felt like I was memorising theory as opposed to challenging my understandings of crime and social order. The lectures felt dragged on and sometimes lacked a clear sense of direction or organisation, which made it difficult to study for the exam. Perhaps the subject may improve next year, so if you are a fan of theory this might be worth a shot. If you are more of a deep/critical thinker, this is probably not the subject for you.
