EXTREMELY content heavy, all self reliant no lectures at all. Tutors didn’t know what they were doing, because the content was too difficult to understand. Subject coordination was okay, exam was pretty fair. Only do if necessary.

Per the previous reviews: this subject is quite content heavy, and doing well is dependent on a hefty bit of memorization. However, if you genuinely like cell biology and want a broad taste of many (fascinating!) cellular functions, this is a great subject. Furthermore, this subject will stretch your independent learning skills, as you will have to pace yourself and continuously revise for some of the bigger modules. It's really important to do so, since a good grasp of the early half of the content primes you for the denser modules at the end. If you struggle to sit down and focus on a 55min video lecture, the online module style might actually benefit you, as you can digest information at your own pace. The ALS aren't the most engaging, but admittedly that was mostly the sudden transition to eLearning. I personally really liked this subject :)

This subject has no lectures, instead they have online reading modules and it's all self-learning. It's so boring and hard to get through. They contain so much info that its hard to know which ones important to know and which ones aren't. Not to mention the 3hr "active learning sessions" are a drag. I really regret taking this subject, i thought i wanted to major in cell bio but now i don't. Don't do it unless you need it as a pre-req.

Subject can get a little bit boring. Although it is called "Fundamentals of cell biology" the content doesn't feel anything like fundamental knowledge at all, but what you learn is important and applicable to most BCMB and CEDB subjects. Plenty of revision and memorisation is required.

I found the subject to be incredibly boring most of the time and therefore difficult to study, but that's just me (I know of others who loved it!). I found the content to be difficult to learn but everything was manageable with a bit of good ol' study. And remember, CALs ARE ASSESSABLE!
