UniMelb Health Tutor Lachlan

Lachlan is an amazing MMI tutor and I cannot recommend him enough to any aspiring medical student looking to improve their interview skills. Each of his sessions were highly structured, involving practice questions and feedback which helped me to target areas of weakness early in my preparation. Lachie is very knowledgeable in areas such as rural/public health and helped me to develop unique and insightful perspectives on these topics. By our last session, he had made it extremely clear what qualities assessors would be looking for in the actual MMI, and I felt confident in structuring strong responses even when an interview prompt was unexpected. On the day of my MMI I felt calm and prepared, and shortly after I received an MD offer at my interviewing university. Lachie’s guidance and down to earth personality were essential in helping me to achieve my dream of studying medicine.

Lachlan was my tutor in 2023 for interview practice, he helped me secure an offer for Unimelb medicine this year. He is an amazing tutor who gave me the confidence that I needed to feel more comfortable and do well in the interview! Lachlan is very friendly, easy to talk to and supportive. Lachlan's tutoring in 2023 was invaluable in navigating my journey towards entering medical school. He is a fantastic mentor who is very friendly, easygoing and lovely to be around. He offered me support and guidance throughout which made the process of applying to medicine a lot less daunting. Without his help I definitely would not have been able to secure a first-round offer for medicine at the University of Melbourne. Lachlan was my interview tutor in 2022 - As I was applying for the rural stream of the Doctor of Medicine (Uni Melb), there were only 15 spots up for grabs, making my interview performance imperative to secure a place! Lachlan and I worked together for many months leading up to my interview, sometimes catching up multiple times a week doing mock stations/full run throughs. I honestly couldn’t imagine not having Lachie as both an interview tutor and a mentor during this process. He is not only extremely knowledgeable about the social/political and cultural issues important to medicine (and rural medicine in particular), he is also just a funny and easy going person to have on your team during a very daunting process. As the reflective nature of interviews can be quite personal, Lachlan made me feel very safe and I trusted sharing personal topics with him during this process. I felt so confident and relaxed when my interview finally came around and I was lucky enough to receive a first round offer.. something I truly don’t think I could have done without Lachlan! Highly recommend working with Lachlan, and starting preparations as early as possible!

Lachlan was my tutor for 2022 for interview prep. I have three interviews and he has helped me practice all the styles and predicted exceedingly well where I’d get interviews and offers. Not only is he a fantastic tutor, providing detailed files on structures and public health issues. He is also a phenomenal mentor, we have brainstormed what different unis would be like, he has supported me when I’ve doubted myself and most importantly he has given me an immense amount of confidence walking into the interviews. I would recommend Lachlan to anyone who wants someone who is really going to help them shine in the interviews and who wants a big buddy to really show them how to get the most out of medicine.
