Reviews

If you seriously need an HD to boost your WAM, RUN. The lecturers are indeed trying to help us but their instructions are borderline vague. The worksheets weigh too much and we keep making these teeny tiny mistakes

This subject was good but not great. It is possible to HD and the lecturers truely are really lovely and helpful! But this unit needs some serious reworking when it comes to assessment. There is a relatively high percentage of group work (30%) which begins with a partnered lab report (20%). A lot of students find this quite frustrating. Though the lecturers assure you the ‘peer review’ process is taken seriously, discrepancies are seemingly not investigated further. The incentive of the peer review is for an individual who contributed less quantity or quality of work to represent their contribution as equal. As mark adjustments are not made or investigated where student feedback differs, this unfortunately punishes the student who works hard and offers the majority contribution. The format of two assessments is a worksheet- due to extensions and the timeline of assessment this resulted in submission of the second worksheet without feedback from the first. This is quite disappointing as it does not allow students to learn from their errors on the previous assessments. Students are also not shown where marks are deducted from their work using a rubric which hinders the ability to learn from previous areas of difficulty. There is limited lab work and whilst it is enjoyable, it honestly feels quite redundant. I really hoped this unit would live up to the five stars, but unfortunately it fell a bit short- and though it was interesting, it could do with some improvement!

Really helpful lecturers and unit coordinators who are always happy to help you learn. Christine is such an amazing lecturer! Concepts are made easy to understand and lectures all tie into each other nicely.

Amazing unit with lots of interesting topics on reproduction! The assessments were clear and not very hard at all. Labs were very interesting (although there were only about 3-4 labs?) Good lecturers (Christine is amazing). Easy to HD unit for third year

Interesting unit but there’s a lot of overlapping content which gets repeated a lot and is good for revision. Highly recommend as you’ll enjoy it a lot and the pracs are pretty good too. Zee is the covenor who will do her best to help you whether it’s at 2am in the morning so you know you’re in good hands!!

Totally agree! did you get HD?

I thought this unit was the most lenient unit i undertook in semester 1. The lectures are quite interesting, they give you plenty of chance to earn marks, and they even given you massive hints on what is on the exam.
