Reviews
Simple and straightforward unit, taught fairly well by the lecturers. The only thing that I did not like about the unit was how the tutor wasn't able to answer simple questions about the labs. I don't think he understood what the objective was and was unable to explain further about what the task meant. The lab was assessed and it frustrated me somewhat to see that the tutor was not able to give an adequate explanation of what we had to achieve in that class. Lectures was alright, although I think it would be quite a bit of challenge for people who does not have prior programming knowledge to do MIPS.

simple and straight forward sub. Good lecturers and I got a straight distinction and I am willing to guide other students

An extension of FIT1045, with emphasis on coding over algorithms. The python used was no more complex than in FIT1045, and the first three weeks were spent on MIPS. The rest of the course is spent looking 'under the hood' at how things like lists and dictionaries work at a more fundamental level. The assignments were not difficult (if you had watched the lectures) but they were very time consuming, so start them early. In my semester the lecturer did not use clickers.

It was a good subject with good content but the lecturer does use clickers, which means that you have to show up to lectures or lose 5%.
