Reviews

Lots of content, but not too difficult. The best tutors always seem to be the DEV ones for me (having done 2022 as well), incredibly helpful and really want you to do well.

Very easy to get a high grade: 2 easy online open book tests worth 5% each are given answers to all questions in labs by demonstrators 9 page report relatively straightforward midsem and final exams are multiple choice

JULIA YOUNG IS AMAZING!!!! Super supportive and keeps her students' best interests at heart. She's a driven lady with a lot of wisdom to give. She made me love dev bio and is the reason im seriously thinking of majoring in the subject. Content was easy to learn but required constant revising which made it very manageable to study before the exam. Easily one of the best units.

This unit was easy to keep up with and incredibly useful and fascinating if you have an interest in biology and development! Julia is incredibly enthusiastic and helpful, and the lectures and pracs are well-organised and thorough. The lecture review questions are super helpful and going through them in the lab tutorials really help to consolidate the knowledge. The cell profile report can be really interesting as you have a lot of freedom to choose your discussion topic, and going through the developmental process for your cell type really helps to put together all of the developmental processes you've learned about throughout the semester. I found that the unit is structured in such a way that it doesn't feel like that much content until you start talking to someone about it and realise how much you've learned (assuming you've been studying throughout the semester, of course)! I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking at an interesting minor that's applicable to everyday life, or just an elective that is interesting without being too stressful!

I loved this unit. The lectures are well organised and the labs were really interesting, This was my most favorite unit I have done at uni so far. And I got an HD as well. Highly recommend.

Still in its infancy, this unit sure packs potential. All associated staff were very friendly, helpful and cooperative, and so I absolutely loved this unit. Who doesn't enjoy a multiple choice exam?

This unit allocated three lectures per week so work load become tough sometimes. However I found that the lectures could provide more detail as I found myself missing vital information. The textbook did not help me as it was far too complicated to read and explore. Attending lectures and labs I think is not enough to achieve a high score for this unit, more is required

The unit coordinator Julia is amazing, she does most of the lectures and is there for all the pracs and is really involved in the learning. The demonstrators were all passionate about the subject and really went above and beyond to help the students. The information did get a bit difficult at times but Julia and the demonstrators were happy to help. The lecture and laboratory material was integrated and flowed really well. I just finished the exam which I think was really fair, most questions we had deeply explored the concepts so if you studied you would easily pass the unit.
