This is a totally police-centric unit - I would discount the "and crime" bit except when discussing police corruption. Overall, the course was mostly really interesting and fun, some dry parts (goes with the territory) and a reasonable amount of workload. Definitely a fun elective or a good intro to policing should you be interested.

LOVEDDDDDD IT BEST UNIT

Somewhat common sense, very police related. I didn't find it as interesting as I thought I would as a law/arts student, as like I mentioned it is very police based, so good for those looking to enter the police force in the future - gives you a bit more of an insight into the history of policing, types of policing strategies difference between security and policing and so on. Sylvia was a great tutor, and the lecturer never seems to bore me regardless of what he lectures! Well structure unit also.

Great if you're interested in Policing specifically. Doesn't really flow well on from PICT101. Quite boring if you're not fully invested into policing and the like.

Average and a little boring. Plenty of opportunity for a policing professional to give talks etc but same old lecturer and boring tutorials. Policing is such a vibrant and diverse subject so why is not taught as such...?

This course provides an excellent insight into the strategies that influence police work. I would highly recommend PICT102 for anyone with an interest in policing, particularly anyone who wishes to join the police force. All lectures were informative and comprehensive and activities in tutorials further improved my knowledge of not only police practices, but the strategies and theories behind them.
