This subject was epic! Yes there is a lot of readings but it's a sociology subject so obviously there are a lot of readings. It was so interesting and such a relevant subject to today's world. I did this online and because the subject matter was so interesting all the online forums were very engaging and everyone was participating. The lecturers are great and very passionate as well!! This subject is awesome and it has made me want to choose gender studies as a minor as part of my arts degree.

[I did this unit online in session 3, 2018] I loved this unit and I would highly recommend it, especially as a summer course. There's a lot of reading so you really need to keep up with it (hence summer being good because you don't have to contend with other units), but if you do the readings then the unit is pretty easy. There's no final exam and a lot of topics to choose from for the essays, which is particularly good if you struggle with some readings and want to skip that topic (the readings are still important for quizzes though). If you're doing the course online, try to get ahead with answering the discussion questions, otherwise you will have to reply to other people rather than just answering the questions.

Loved this unit, readings have been improved in length, interesting topics and engaging conversation in tutorials.

Good unit - broadens your view; downside; if you ain't good at writing essays and forget/don't have time to read weekly readings then yeah, I wouldn't do it.

Really interesting topics throughout the semester, every week I was genuinely interested in each topic. Lectures are run really well and my tutor was really helpful. Overall, I really enjoyed it as it wasn't particularly difficult, and would definitely recommend. No exam, and the assessments are quite easy. Only downside is the readings. There are a lot, and they are really long (20+ pages) as well, so it is really hard to keep up. Some of the readings are interesting, others are quite difficult to comprehend- which makes the quizzes a little more difficult.

Quite an easy unit, although themes discussed are from a very feminism pov. Can be very dry at times, readings are from the 1800s on some occasions. Online weekly quizzes are a good way to get some extra marks. The lecture is good, very informative and covers many areas and aspects of issue being discussed and also themes are discussed with case study examples which is useful, and insightful.

It's a good subject if you are interested in Feminism issues all around the world. Assessments are bearable. staff were nice too. but also you have to read around 20 pages for ten weeks to answer your quizzes and gain marks.

Readings are way too much. Gives us materials that are 15-30 pages (there's more than one reading, so that's a lot). Too much info in the readings to be properly discussed in tutorials. Lecturer isn't interesting to listen to at all and she makes the topics very boring. Not good for first-years. However, my tutor was nice.

I did this by distance which was interesting. There are a lot of readings and some of them use a lot of words to say very little. Or they just seem really impractical / overly theoretical. Other readings were amazing and impassioned - it was a mixed bag.
