After careful thought, I have decided that this is the worst course I have done at ANU. Would give it 0 stars if I could. Main Points: - Sub-par lecturer (Won't comment out of basic respect) - Misleading title (we focused on the visual system for 8 weeks! I understand the importance of the visual system for humans, but 8 weeks in an introductory course is unnecessary). - Too much content for introduction course. - Too much memorisation required for exams. - No overall coherent theme for course, unlike PYSC2008. - Biological basis of behaviour is a HUGE area in psychology. This course is too focused on some nuances. - Lacklustre tutorials. Only 4 for the whole semester! And 1 of them was purely for our oral presentations. What are we even paying for? How are we supposed to consolidate our knowledge? - No support for oral presentation assignment. Expected to just go up and give a presentation. Yes, it is an important skill to develop. That's the key word. Develop. Not just go into the deep end. Should have led up to an oral presentation via short exercises, activities etc. Unfortunately this course is required for a psych major/degree so it is unavoidable. If in the future this course is made optional, do not take it unless you are genuinely interested in the material and the way it is delivered. Semester 2, 2024.

Didn't really like this one. Probably the worst psych subject I took at ANU. Note: Did it in 2011.
