Awesome unit very easy to do well in. The content is super interesting and you don't have to know it all or memorise it to do well. Had to complete 3 worksheets during the semester as well as one online test which were kind of time consuming but not overly formal. The final exam is open book and you don't have to know every aspect of the course, you only have to choose a few sections you're interested in. The unit coordinator is super friendly and personable. Brilliant elective choice, easy HD if you put in a bit of effort. Similar in content style to PHAR1101: drugs that changed the world, so if you enjoyed that you'll love this.

This unit was very interesting as you learn about a pandemic throughout history every week. The exam was an extended response answer about a particular week's content but was very easy as the exam was open book meaning you could come in with a pre-made essay. In addition, you only need to answer in total 5 extended answer questions meaning that you do not need to study every week's content for this unit. Approximately every week, you attend a 1hr tutorial in which you complete a worksheet which I thought was weirdly marked as we never hear about what we got wrong in the worksheet. However, the worksheets were very easy to score 80%+ in. There is also a mid-semester exam that was also open book and could be completed on LMS over a span of ~5 days. This was very easy as long as you put in effort. Despite this, I found that the unit required a lot of writing and therefore time, however, this unit seems to mark based on the content rather than how you write, making it different to English ATAR. Overall, this unit was solid and good if you are looking for a HD.

Love, love, love this unit! Chef's kiss. A nice second year elective unit with a look at history from a medical perspective. The assessments were easy- a fortnightly worksheet that you complete in your group/class and online quiz to follow with infinite time and all assessments are open book. There is a midsem test that was open for over a week and with no time limit, so you can slowly fill it out day by day like a short assignment. For the exam you can choose which era and health topic you'd like to write about- so you don't need to study all the topics each week. You select which ones interest you most! Topics include Ancient Egyptian healthcare, the Legacy of Galen, the Black Death & Disease Treatment in the Middle Ages, Health & Medicine in the Renaissance, the Columbian Exchange, Health & Horror in the Victorian Era, Psychiatry through the years & warfare and disease. Sounds like a lot but the nature of the course allows the workload to be super manageable and catered to your interests. The UC is so friendly and conducts the unit all by himself. He does an incredible job! I will miss this unit so much- best unit from UWA imo.

Fun and interesting unit especially if you love history and the unit co-ordinator is super nice!

Really interesting unit that I would definitely recommend doing but I didn't think it was as easy as people said it was. Nearly finished on an HD. The lectures were always super interesting and the weekly quizzes were really easy. Exam was open book which took off a lot of pressure but was just a lot of writing.

Great unit. Exam is open book so super easy. Great for anyone who's got a solid background in English or History, as there is quite a lot of writing involved, and the take home assessment is essentially like a Modern History ATAR source analysis. VERY easy to get a HD. Content itself is interesting and I highly recommend for anyone looking for an easy broadening/elective

A good unit with clearly outlined requirements to do well. Angus runs the unit very well and is a pleasure to consult if you have any issues. I did have an issue with another unit coordinator as he is simply just a D***. All in all a great unit thanks to Angus.

Good unit for an easy pass as the exam is open book so you can just take all your notes in. The content was interesting (but there is a lot but it is pretty easy to condense). Definitely recommend this unit

Great unit, interesting content and just a 2h lecture + 1h tutorial per week. you don't actually need to attend the lectures, just make good notes for the exam using the lecture slides & additional readings. the exam is open book and consists of short answer and essay questions. you can choose the topics you want to write about in the exam so you'll only need to make notes for those topics. in each set of lecture slides they'll give you an example of what can come out in the exam - base your notes on this + the past exam paper and you'll do fine! the assessments include: 5 tutorial worksheets (to be filled up in class), 5 online MCQ quizzes, 1 take-home assignment and 1 final exam.
