Reviews

This unit has seemingly changed quite a bit since the last reviews were posted. Assessments consist of a mid-semester exam (4 questions, 40 minutes), a dietary analysis infographic, and a final examination (8 questions, two hours). No notes are allowed for any of the exams, and they're all extended response style questions. The lecturer tends to rush through lectures, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly how much detail is required for different topics, and overall the unit felt quite unorganised, as tutors and the unit coordinator would consistently contradict one another, making it hard to understand who exactly to listen to and whose advice was best. Marking turnaround took a longggg time, and we never went over the mid-semester exam in class, so were never told how well or how poorly certain questions were answered. The mid-sem is VERY pushed for time, but the exam was better timed. The tutorials revolve around group work and presentations, so make sure you get a good group. The content was easy to understand, and a HD is very achievable with a bit of effort

Easy HD with minimal effort. Make sure you have your notes handy for all the tests and you should score 90+ in those. Assignments require a bit more effort. I have heard they are adding an exam in 2018 which may make the unit slightly harder.

it was kinda easy and also kinda hard. easy because its not too time consuming , and the tutorials are easy to score 100% with a good group or at least make sure the prezi/debate have lots of evidence/examples that are referenced. and the last test was amazingly easy (for me at least, the randomized questions hit a classmate with very difficult questions so this is a luck situation) and all you need are your weekly lectures and homework answers. Be sure to do the tasks/homework for each week because some test questions derive from that. Don't stress too much on the lecture or readings but at least read through once. my first test was ridiculously difficult (again with the luck/randomization thing) and I couldn't find the answers directly from the weekly lectures/homework- later I realized they also took material from tutorials which I had neglected. the food diary was easy but needs to be detailed to get 100%. the infographic was a bit hard since Im not too good with art/design but the content is easy to write up. no exams which was great. overall great unit, would do again and again if I could.

Interesting, very easy and low-time commitment. Lectures are just reading off slides.

An interesting and easy unit that's really well organised. Learning outcomes explored in "flip lectures" are consolidated in interactive activities in tutorials. The exam is short answer and extended answer, but as a science student who avoids writing, even I found the exam easy!
