Reviews

The unit covers soundtracks and sound effects in film, TV, and video games. You learn about creating foley, creating ambience/atmos, and finding samples to create layered SFX. You're also taught about producing music to a specific brief as one would if they went on to work in commercial music. I enjoyed the unit but, unlike other electronic music units, the 2 assessments aren't weightly equally (50% each). Instead the midsem project is worth 30% while the end year project is 70%, which is a huge pressure, however the marking isn't too harsh. Michael Terren was our tutor and was great, he's super helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.
