Big ouch. The quintessential 'high effort, low reward'. Super heavy on the content and a bit of an info overload considering the entirety of microbiology is memorizing bacteria names. Exam was tough but lecturers did their best with chunky content. Taking the medsci undergrad has been the worse trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever.

Non-assured kids who are sitting GAMSAT and need a near perfect GPA, this is your signal to change majors

ooo boi/gurl y'all gon suffer so baddd. if your previous imed units didnt kill you yet, this definitely will. but stay strong fam! if you find yourself an inch away from imed-induced depression, always remember you dont need 90s to get into MD if youre in direct entry. if youre not in direct entry, well, good luck. read up GS Microbiology: A Clinical Approach and do all the questions. and its partner site is also useful: http://mca2.garlandscience.com/etutor its also helpful to study (and cry) as a group so gather your friends for this unit!! update from a junior who took this unit in 2018: it's still hard as ever. keep fightin', people.

There is so much content in this unit!! It will really test your limits and push you to your max. You have to put in so much more effort and study than any other unit!! It gets slightly easier towards the end though as everything comes together and I will admit I did learn quite a lot and the lecturers are pretty nice.

The unit would be much better suited to being split up into two separate units since there is way too much content for just one unit- some lectures were over 80 slides. The unit coordinator and lecturers were passionate, but that still wasn't enough to help us with the crazy amount of content they threw at us. The exam also tested extremely specific content rather than gauging our overall knowledge of immunology concepts. Sorry you have to do it for your major.

waaay too much content, even for a direct pathway student i think i may need to drop out esp. due to eric chu's fungi lectures

It is a very content-heavy unit, and to do well in this unit you will have to sacrifice studying for your other units. But the content was quite interesting and the exams and tests weren't so bad if you studied for them.

Too content heavy - should have been divided into two separate units. It was interesting and the lecturers were really nice, but you need to put in way too much effort for it. If I wasn't direct, I wouldn't have survived tbh

Hard subject and lots of studying/work needed to pass... if you like microbiology and immunology you will be fine, if not, good luck.
