Great unit, Liz is amazing. Lectures were easy to understand

Absolutely loved this unit. The lecturers, Liz & Daniela, are incredibly kind and solid lecturers. Most concepts in this unit are very basic, with the first 4 weeks being primarily Year 12 chemistry, but some concepts can be harder to grasp in latter stages of the course. The tests are incredibly fair and very easy to score highly in if you've covered the material that has been given. The SDL is basically free marks, and 4% is given to you just for coming to the lab classes. I just wouldn't recommend the textbook, as it goes into much more depth than covered in lectures, which can be confusing and make you feel as though you should know more - but they will ONLY put questions in based on the lectures themselves!

Liz is amazing, unit is not very content heavy but some concepts are moderately difficult. Unit is examined very well so as long as you know your stuff, assessments will feel like a breeze.

Interesting unit and great lecturers, Liz and Daniella were amazing in explaining the content. There were two topic tests worth 10% each, one test based on labs and pracs worth 15%. There were two assignments which were really straightforward. You also get 4% for just attending the lab class. All the assessments and exams were completely based on your understanding of what was taught in the lectures, so you will be fine if you pay attention to the lectures and remember the content.

Nothing to fear here. Liz Quail and Daniella Ulgiati are solid lecturers and teach the content well, providing a good grounding in biochemistry/molecular biology and a little genetics. Learning outcomes and what we did and didn't need to know for assessments were made extremely clear, which was a godsend. The exam was straightforward and the tests were mostly fine as well. My only issue was that the Lehninger textbook went into way too much depth and just wasn't necessary given the quality and clarity of the lectures. A great unit.

I really enjoyed this unit. It teaches you the foundations of biochemistry and molecular biology so there is nothing too in-depth but still a rather broad spectrum of content that is essential to know for future units. If you work hard in this unit you will be able to get a good mark, especially thanks to Liz who is an extremely kind and caring lecturer.

Very well organised. Easy tests but slightly more difficult exam. Yr 12 chem helps a lot with the basic concepts. Great lecturers, especially Liz Quail, who will do her absolute best to help you through the unit. It is very clear what you are expected to learn for tests and exams.
