Great to expand knowledge in Jane Austen's stuff. But difficult to score HD. Lectures were posted online, so it wasn't necessary to go to live lectures. 2 hour tutes gave time for discussion and it helped me develop different ideas about what I would write in my essays. A couple presentations here and there, but tutes were pretty chill overall. Lecturer and tutors respond very fast to emails, and they'll give really helpful feedback to your essay plans before you even write the essay. Just a note though, if you were to take this class it would save so much time to read jane austen's famous books beforehand. It had pride and prejudice, sense and sensibility, persuasion, and emma for this sem. We also learned about movie adapations.

completed during miss covid so the course was certainly impacted by that! loved learning more about jane! found this unit to be really engaging and eyeopening for a lot of things i hadn’t considered abt austen! only issues rly came w covid - just felt like (in person!) tutes were awkward and not engaging enough but that could also be down to the people showing up! Some great content and lots of flexibility in essays!

Loved this unit! Jane Austen is one of my favourite authors, so the new insights from this unit helped me read her novels in a different light. It's a really fun and interesting unit even for those who wouldn't personally choose to read her novels or watch any adaptations. There are only two essays, but you really have to work on it to get a good mark. The lecturers and tutors were very helpful in giving feedback and were always ready to answer any question.

Really interesting unit if you love Jane Austen's work. The lectures were super good, the tutorials were a bit dry. Quite a few readings throughout the semester. The essays were marked quite harshly. Highly recommend to English majors.
