Reviews

This unit teach about x-ray diffraction in the first half. The content was not quite difficult. The second half of this unit was about symmetry and group theory. This part is quite tricky, so practice questions are essential to do if you want to success. Both topics are examinable. Another topic in this unit was spectroscopy, but it is only assessed in the laboratory, not final exam. The laboratory content has two parts, the compulsory one which was about spectroscopy and the optional one which were from various areas and not quite relevant to the lecture content. Both lab demonstrators were nice and helpful. The only lecturer in this unit was Stephen, he is an expert in XRD. He is also nice, kind, and helpful for any questions you might have. The only thing is he quite often cancel the lecture in short notice. The final exam was also friendly enough.
